Happy 5th Birthday to our Dearest Son!

Morning Birthday Greetings with his Birthday Cupcake!!!

Meinhard celebrated his 5th birthday last August 27, 2007. He had a very simple celebration at home together with our family. He had his dragonballz goldilocks cake. I made loot bags and pinata with lots of goodies for him and his cousins; Jewel, James, Jhem and Jana. We had pancit, spaghetti, barbeque spareribs with fries and mixed veggies, lumpia, tinolang chicken, chicken lollipos and pork caldereta. Thanks to tita Girlie and Nanay Jo for helping me prepare Meinhard's birthday.

Since August 27 was a holiday, the next day we celebrated his birthday again in Mckinley Hill together with his classmates and teachers. Daddy and I brought Mcdonalds spaghetti and chicken snack, goldilucks cupcakes and chocolate lollipos. I prepared loot bags for his classmates and brought balloons for them.

July 7: Your third visit to your pediatrician for your BCG vaccine. You were one month and seven day old already and was 4.4 kilos now(from your 3.3kilos).

July 12: The very first time that you smiled spontaneously when Daddy talked to you... He was so happy when you smiled and responded to him. Daddy hanged the caterpillar toy (that was your Kuya's toy when he was still a baby like you) in our room where you can see it always and you were so amazed every time you focused on it. We even named it Katy the Caterpillar. You smiled and sometimes you looked like you were talking to Katy... Katy was really a great helped to us especially every early in the morning (around 1am until morning) where you were usually wide awake.

July 13: Dad, you and Mom fetched Kuya Meinhard from his pictorial from school. This was the first time you went outside with us aside from your pediatrician's clinic. After school, we went to SM here in Batangas City. This was your very first time in the mall. We just bought something and only stayed there for half an hour. After SM, we went to the building (Erning's Pawnshop) and Mama She gave you P500 (it is a tradition here that if it is the first time the baby visited you or your house, you should give her any amount of money). After the building, we passed by Tita Bel and Uncle Rudy's Building and she gave you money also (P50). And we went to our other pawnshop, where Papa Jojo gave you 100 bucks and 1000 bucks from the pawnshop. We had a great day collecting money (hehehe)....

July 14: We went to SM Batangas City again and celebrated Dadddy and Mama Pem's birthday. Your first lunch out in Max's Restaurant.

July 15: It was Daddy's birthday... We celebrated it with Daddy's family at Gerry's Grill at SM Batangas City. And this was the very first time that I had a good sleep... Daddy was the one who woke up at around 12am to give you the milk and carry you to put you to sleep... And when it was my turn at around 3am, you were so good... You were not crying and you were just playing with Katy... I just breastfed you and you were asleep again at around 5am... Mommy hopes that this will always be your routine now...

July 30: Your second month birthday... Dad was in Manila for his work but went home after office. We had a very simple dinner with Papa Rommel and Ninang Juvy. They brought you Black Forest Cake from Red Ribbon. Tita Girlie cooked pansit for you again.

Milestones:

  • Smiles spontaneously
  • Responds when someones talking
  • Says ah-goo and other similar vowel-consonant combination
  • Can hold head upright
  • Knows your name so well
  • Plays well

Note: I am into QuickPages right now in digiscrapping and just adding some elements and doodles, since I cannot spend more time in scrapping because I am so tied up with my two kids... With the happiness and joy that they brought me, the fact is, being a hands-on-mom, without a yaya, it is not that easy to have a four year old son and a newborn daughter...

All of us know that having a new baby does not only mean joy and happiness, it also mean sleepless nights, changing moods of the baby and lots of other things.

The first three of weeks of having you "Jia" in the house, had been so great and easy. You were just sleeping all the time and you will only wake up when you need to be fed. You started with Similac Formula Milk where Dra. Domingo (the pediatrician who catch you when Mommy gave birth) prescribed but your pediatrician (Dra. Comia) changed it to S26 when you had your first check up last June 1. But Mommy is breastfeeding you also. You liked Mommy's milk a lot.

June 1: Your very first check-up.. You were just two day old weighing 3.2kilos. The very first time you met your pediatrician. You had your ear pierced also by dra. The clip from your naval was removed also... Hepatitis B #1 given. Nutrilin multivitamins was given as your daily vitamins.

After three weeks, just like other babies, your mood changed. You were awake in the morning already and you need to be carried first before you go to sleep again. This was not very easy for Mommy especially when Daddy was not around. It is a good thing Daddy is here most of the time. You will sleep at around 6pm and will wake up at 12 or 1am, then sleep again after Daddy feed and carry you (with matching singing and dancing so you could sleep easily)... They say that we should not do this since you will get use to this carrying before going to sleep... But what can we do, this is the only thing that can put you to sleep without crying.

June 30: You were one month old already... Daddy and Kuya Meinhard went to Manila because Dad attended a christening... When they came home in the afternoon they had a Red Ribbon Chocolate Marjolaine Cake for you. Mommy and Tita Girlie prepared pansit for you also. A very simple celebration for your one month birthday....

The next day after I gave birth last May 30, 2007, I went home already. Before we went home, this was also the time we chose and decided what name will best fit our baby. These were the choices: Jodi Bernadet, Jia Bernadet & Jazmin Bernadet... We chose Jia Bernadet because of its meaning, Jia means "Outstanding Person" and Bernadet means "Feminine form of Bernard" (from his Dad) and we believed that this name best suits our baby.

This was also the first time Meinhard and Jia met.

Journalizing: Kuya Meinhard was so excited when he saw you.. I can see the love in his look for you... He took pictures of you on his celphone. He keeps on touching your hands and your feet. He said he is the Kuya already and you are our baby...

"The Labor" and "The Big Day"

May 29, 2007 --- "Labor"

After my last check up with my OB I was really hoping that I will labor naturally. As my doctor said, she will need to induce me on May 30 just in case I will not yet labor to prevent overdue. So we agreed that on May 30 in the afternoon after Meinhard's presentation in Mckinley Hill International School, I will be admitted in Mary Mediatrix Hospital in Lipa City.

It seemed that my baby heard me, the 29th of May, I had blood discharge already at around one in the afternoon and told my inay about it. I called Geraldine (my OB's secretary) and told me to observe the contractions first. I was so calm since with my first pregnancy the same thing happened. I knew that I dont need to go to the hospital immediately. I still need to observe the intervals of contractions. At five in the afternoon, my honey drove me to the hospital. I was admitted at around seven in evening. We still waited for a vacant room. I was only 1cm when I was admitted so my OB advised the nurse to give me something to induce labor. When I was in the room already (Rm329), painful contractions happened and the intervals were fifteen minutes to ten minutes. The whole night I was in painful labor. Good thing, the nurse was with me the whole time, monitoring my labor intervals and the baby's movement and heartbeat. That was what I like in Mary Mediatrix Hospital. Her worked was not finished until the time she brought me to the delivery room. A big thanks to her, she was really a great help. And of course, with my honey around and with his love and support, I know that I can tolerate all the pains and hardships. With so much labor pains, I was just thinking of my honey, meinhard and our baby and of course I was praying the whole time. I told myself that I can do this for them.

May 30, 2007 --- "The Big Day"

Mommy and Our New Baby's Big Day

The next day at around six in the morning, they brought me to the delivery room already. The pain now was so much already. I was breathing in and out the whole time to ease the pain. I knew that we were three soon to be moms in the delivery room. I was so tired already with so much pain. When I enter the delivery room, I saw my OB already, gave me some examinations if I was ready and asked the nurse to look after me first and monitor since she will be giving birth to another mom to be at that time also. I was 5cm when I entered the delivery room and it means that I need to wait more for some time. After quiet some time, they prepared me already for delivery. I remember telling the nurse and the resident doctor to get the camera from my husband. I was so much pain and I knew that my baby will be coming already. The next thing that I knew was I told the nurse, "anong kelangan kong gawin" (what should I do next?) and they told me that, "misis nakapanganak na po kayo" (you gave birth already) and told them again "pwede ba yun, nakapanganak ako ng natutulog" (is it possible that I gave birth sleeping?). I didnt know that I fell asleep. I didnt hear my baby's cry, unlike with Meinhard that I knew everything, I tried to be awake the whole time. And they prepared me for transfer in my room already at around nine in the morning. When I was in my room already, I was still so tired and restless and I think I fell asleep again. I just heard that Inay and Tatay came already and my Honey was ready to go home so he could come with Meinhard's presentation in school (it was his last day in school - with a school program in SM Cinema 2).

At 7:51 in the morning I gave birth to a healthy baby girl. I was not able to see her the whole day because I was sleeping and resting the whole time. Inay and Tatay was with me. At around 12pm I was awake already. I was able to get up slowly. I was still dizzy and still in pain but it was tolerable already. With the nurse advised, Inay fed me when I was fully awake and took my medicines for faster recovery. My brother Jun, went to the hospital at lunch time and brought food for us. Jun and Inay visited our baby in the nursery room and took some pictures of her so I can have a glimpse of her. They showed us the pictures and just like other mothers felt at the very first moment they saw their baby, I fell in love with my newest treasure. I cant wait to see and hold her.

Daddy and Kuya Meinhard's Big Day

Unlike our first plan that Honey and I will watch Meinhard's presentation, it turned out that my sister Juvy, my sister-in-law Pem and Meinhard's two year old cousin Jhem came with Daddy to Meinhard's presentation at SM Cinema 2. I was really excited with this because this will be the first time that we will watch Meinhard in their school program, but I missed it. Anyway, Daddy and my sister took lots of pictures and video. And that was not only it, when they came to visit me after Meinhard's presentation, Meinhard had a surprise for me. He had a bouquet of flowers for me, it should be given by them in the school program to the mommies and he had a medal when he came. He showed it to me and I was really proud of him. It was a Virgil Hillyer
Award from Mckinley Hill International School for Academic Excellence.

It was really a big day for our new daughter and for our son. Honey and I was so proud to both of them, my daughter for being healthy and our son for being good in his presentation and for his very first medal he gave to us.
